Performance Athlete Support Programme - Application Form 2024/25

Use this form to apply for the Performance Athlete Support Programme (PASP).  Further information about this programme can be found here

This application form contains the following sections. 

  1. Personal information - Details about you as a student athlete.
  2. Sporting information - Information about your sport and the level you compete at.
  3. Supporting evidence - How you can verify your sporting achievements.
  4. Personal statement and reference - A chance for you and your coach to tell us more.
  5. Support request - How can we help you achieve in your sport.

You will be asked for a reference from your coach.  

You may also attach photos/video that show your sporting achievements.

All of these sections must be completed before you submit your application and completed applications must be submitted before the deadline date


Please note that by completing this application you will be considered for the support programme itself and the scholarship. There are a limited number of scholarships available and acceptance onto the programme does not guarantee a financial award.

    • Instances of misconduct will be investigated in accordance with the University's Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Regulations. This may disqualify you from receiving an award. Any funding obtained as a result will have to be repaid and/or other sanctions may be applied.
  • I have provided, and will continue to provide, relevant information and/or documentation in support of my application if asked to do so by the Student Funding Team and/or Sport Team.
    • Refusal or delay in providing information and/or documentation may result in your application being closed.
  • I authorise the Student Funding Team to contact other departments within the University, where appropriate, to discuss information relating to my application in order to provide relevant support.
  • I understand that the Student Funding Team may ask for my consent to speak to external third parties (such as Student Finance England, the NHSBSA, or the Student Union Advice Centre).
    • Failure to give consent without good reason may result in your application being closed.
  • I will inform the Student Funding Team or Sport Team of any changes in my circumstances that would mean I am no longer eligible to make this application or to receive an award.
  • If I am in receipt of benefits and/or any other financial support, I understand it is my responsibility to check whether receiving an award from this scheme will affect my entitlement(s)/payments.

Sporting Information


For example; UK Athletics, England Boxing, Scottish Swimming, Welsh Rugby, etc
Please select the main sport you plan to continue pursuing alongside your studies.
For example; 100m sprint, goal keeper, doubles, 400m freestyle, etc
If you do not represent a team/squad, please provide information relevant to your sport.
For example; British Cycling Talent Development, Badminton England Performance Pathway, etc

Supporting Evidence


For example; "FINA points" for swimming, "Power of 10" for Athletics, etc.

If this is not applicable to you or you do not have this information, please enter N/A

For example; awards, titles, medals, personal best, etc.

Please include dates (or year) these were achieved.

Files types you can upload include: .csv .doc/.docx .gif .jpg/jpeg .pdf .png .ppt/.pptx/.pps .zip

So a Word doc, Powerpoint, or Acrobat file is great.

(Please do not use SharePoint as this is not compatible and we will not be able to view the file).

You can also provide details of any social media accounts that would support your application.

Personal Statement and Reference


This personal statement is your chance to strengthen your application and tell us more about you. You might like to include your sporting journey, aspirations for the future, any other notable achievements, and what positive contributions you could make to Sport Hallam.

Please be assured that you will not be assessed on academic skill or writing style, but due to the volume of applications we receive, information you provide here will be used to inform our decisions. Please provide a considered and full statement. 

Ideally this should be your current coach or a member of the national governing body for your sport. Alternatively, it can be someone that can provide a true account of your sporting level. Please note that we do not normally accept references from parent(s)/guardian(s).
For example, this could be a Word document, or a screenshot of an email or letter.
