Nabeela, first year Law student at SHU is this years National Student Employee of the Year.

If you work part-time, you could be next years winner and get stand out recognition for working while you study.

Every year, Universities across the UK compete to encourage employers to nominate students working in paid part-time jobs.

32,000 SHU students, local and national employers, 4 categories, regional winners and then national winners.  Think the Oscars of the student employment world.

At the National Association of Student Employment Services Awards evening on June 28th, Nabeela beat competition from all other University student winners to be named the 2017 national student employee of the year!

As winner of the SHU Above and Beyond Award category, Nabeela won the regional award and then national award, a fantastic achievement and recognition for her hard work as a Youth Engagement Officer at The Element Society.

Nabeela was nominated by her boss, Richard Ripley who said, "She has a genuine belief and drive that all young people should have the opportunity to reach their full potential."

When asked about winning and how this will help her career, Nabeela said;

"I was very surprised and a bit overwhelmed to win. I hope to pursue a career in law and following my work experience, I'm leaning towards international human rights. I'm very glad I chose to attend Sheffield Hallam as the careers service have been beyond helpful. Not just in constantly promoting opportunities available to SHU students, but in taking the time to tailor opportunities to each course. I got the chance to volunteer at the Red Cross Refugee Family Reunion programme through the service and this has helped my chosen career path".

What a way to add stand out experience to a CV.

Sheffield Hallam is number 1 for student employment. Get the recognition you deserve for your hard work. Look out for the Student Employee of The Year campaign starting again in February 2018 and get your boss to nominate you.
