A 30 minute session to introduce students to this paid internship through the Windsor Fellowship. It’s specifically for penultimate or final year BAME students from any degree with 300 UCAS points (from 3 A Levels or equiv) and interest in Accounting careers.

The NAO is an independent public body that helps Parliament hold government to account for how taxpayers’ money is spent. They provide assurance to Parliament through their audit work and add value to government by supporting its drive to improve public services. Their vision is to “help the nation spend wisely.”

About the Summer Internship Programme

Successful candidates will gain insight into the work of the NAO, covering both the financial audit and Value for Money work.

The assignments last for eight weeks commencing in July 2018 at either the London or Newcastle office. Through the internship you will gain an understanding of the skills and capability needed to become a Chartered Accountant.

The internship is likely to include work-shadowing auditors, conducting fieldwork for the NAO's VFM teams, research, drafting option papers, interviewing and assisting with formulating questions for VFM studies.

Benefits:
  • Competitive salary c.£23,174 (London) or c.£17,660 (Newcastle) pro rata
  • 4.5 days leave for an eight week placement
Eligibility Criteria
  • From a Black or Asian Minority Ethnic (BAME) group
  • In your Penultimate or Final year of an undergraduate degree
  • On course to achieve at least a 2:1 Bachelors degree
  • A demonstrable interest in studying to become a Chartered Accountant and an interest in the public sector, government and audit
  • We are looking for applicants with a 2.1 degree and 300 UCAS points. From 2017 onwards, the UCAS Tariff points are changing so you will require a minimum of 120 UCAS points or equivalent from your top three A level grades (or equivalent).
  • You will need to be a UK, Commonwealth, EEA or Swiss national to comply with Civil Service nationality rules.
